The Tour

Mission San José and Market Square in the afternoon, then an art museum of your choice. Dusk is on Alamo Plaza and the River Walk, dinner at the Pearl, and live music.

1. 

   Mission San José1:00 PM

   The Queen of the Missions, part of Texas's only UNESCO World Heritage Site. Walk the convento courtyard, then stop at the Rose Window, the most ornate piece of Spanish colonial stonework in North America. Your guide tells the mission as a story of two cultures building something new together.

2. 

   Historic Market Square and Mi Tierra2:20 PM

   The largest Mexican market in the United States, strung with holiday lights. Browse the artisan stalls, then stop at Mi Tierra Café y Panadería, open since 1941, for a pan dulce or a late lunch. Please note food and shopping are paid directly.

3. 

   Art Museum: Your Choice (Museum of Art or McNay)3:40 PM

   Choose one of San Antonio's two great art museums. The San Antonio Museum of Art is a 1904 brewery turned museum, with Latin American art, ancient Egyptian and Roman antiquities, and a view of downtown from the walkway between the two brewery towers. The McNay Art Museum is Texas's first museum of modern art, in a 1920s Spanish Colonial Revival mansion, with European modernists and a sculpture garden. Admission is payable directly to the museum.

4. 

   River Walk Lights and the Alamo4:55 PM

   The holiday display on Alamo Plaza and a short stroll along the River Walk as dusk falls.

5. 

   Pearl: Lights and Holiday Drinks5:55 PM

   The historic Pearl brewery grounds dressed for December. Watch the skaters on the ice rink, then warm up with holiday drinks at Park Bar or Larder. Please note skating and drinks are paid directly; the rink was $20 to $28 per person per hour last season, skates included.

6. 

   Pullman Market - Dine Around (Pearl)6:50 PM

   The Pearl's food hall, home to Nicosi Dessert Bar and local specialty foods.

7. 

   Live Music (Varies by date)8:00 PM

   A sampling of San Antonio's diverse live music scene. Varies by location and interest.
